DAY 3: BOARD THE GHAN-DEPART ADELAIDE
Your private car transfer awaits to take you to the train station to board The Ghan at 11:20am for a 12:20pm departure. The Ghan will take you through ancient mountain ranges, over the red-baked earth of the Simpson Desert, and past oceans of sandhills. You will travel under a brilliant outback sunset and experience the wonder of the southern sky. Overnight: The Ghan, Gold Service, Twin Cabin for 2 nights (B,D)
DAY 4: THE GHAN-ALICE SPRINGS
Arrive in Alice Springs, Australia's most famous outback town, in the early afternoon. Perhaps choose one of the many Whistle Stop tours available in Alice Springs (own expense); a great way to make the most of your journey during The Ghan's stop. (B,L,D)
DAY 5: KATHERINE-DARWIN
Arrive in Katherine, often referred to as the "Lady of the North" and the "Jewel of the Territory." Take an optional 2-hour boat cruise or helicopter tour to experience the spectacular grandeur of the 25 million year old canyons of Katherine Gorge (tours are at own expense and purchased en route)*. This afternoon start on the last leg of this fascinating journey on to Darwin. Transfer by private car to your hotel. Overnight: Darwin, Mantra on the Esplanade (B,L)
DAY 6: DEPART DARWIN
Today you will be transferred by private car to the airport for your onward flight. (B)

Gold Service Twin Cabins feature a comfortable three-seater lounge for relaxing, which converts to upper and lower berths at night. Cabins include air-conditioning, linens and towels, a complimentary toiletries kit, hanging space, full-length mirror, reading lights, luggage space, foldaway table, private shower and toilet facilities. Single cabins have similar features of twin cabins, (showers and toilets are located at the end of the carriage). Dine in comfort in the restaurant car, decorated and furnished in a style that is reminiscent of another era.
